New mobile application for Georgia’s ski resorts already available. From now on anyone can get detailed information about Georgia’s winter resorts through special mobile applications. Owners of Android and iOS devices can already download the Mountain Resorts of Georgia mobile application for free.
The presentation of the mobile application for 4 mountain resorts of Georgia: Gudauri, Bakuriani, Goderdzi and Mestia was held in Tech Park, Tbilisi on March the 2nd, 2018.
According to Aleksandre Onoprishvili, the head of Mountain Resorts Development Company subordinated to the Minstry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia one of the main functions of the application is that the customer can call the rescue services by the one click of a button. Moreover, the new mobile application will include detailed information about all mentioned Georgian winter resorts.
The application is aimed at creating maximum comfort level for the visitors of Georgia’s ski resorts. The application gives customers an opportunity to get information about winter activities, ticket prices and other services related with the resorts.
Developed by Austrian company INTERMAPS, the interactive real-time ski guide for Mountain Resorts of Georgia will include the latest data about the operating lifts and trails, the weather conditions, the nearest mountain restaurants, the height of the snow, avalanche hazard levels, current conditions of the access road to the resort and other details.
INTERMAPS has already created a similar application for 2200 resorts, comprising 2,9 million users.

The event is organized with the support of Mountain Resorts Development Company subordinated to the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Developent of Georgia.

Diplomatic ski Competition DipSki was held in Gudauri on Fabruary the 10th, 2018 at the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. Co-organized by the Mountain Resorts Development Company and the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia.
The competition was opened by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mikheil Janelidze, who talked about the potential of Georgia's winter resorts, which he said is one of the priorities of the government.
Ski tournament winners were awarded cups specifically designed for this event. Participants of the simulated activity received receive respective certificates. Launched by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2017, Diplomatic Ski Competition is likely to become part of the tradition.

Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, speaking at a government meeting, said that the country is ready to host winter Olympics 2030. It is expected that in March to Georgia there will arrive delegation of representatives of the IOC, which will explore the possibilities of the country.
“Georgia expresses the desire to host the winter Olympic games 2030, the government has a plan of preparing the necessary infrastructure and the development of winter sports. In the implementation of this plan will involve all relevant bodies of Georgia”, – said Kvirikashvili.
Recall that the winter Olympic Games 2018 will be held in South Korea’s Pyeongchang in 2022, the Olympics will Beijing in the summer of 2019 will be known to host the Olympics in 2026.

The decision came after a meeting between Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Georgia's goal to become a host country of the Olympic Games was highlighted at the meeting. Kvirikashvili talked about the potential Georgia’s mountain resorts have and recent developments in the industry.According to him, Switzerland’s experience in developing ski resorts was very important for Georgia. "The recent activities of your country are very impressive for us. The International Olympic Committee is interested in developing sport and accordingly we support national Olympic Committees, including Georgia’s National Olympic Committee," said Thomas Bach.
